01 Introduction

Effloresce Labs ("we", "our", or "us") provides mobile applications and related web services (collectively, the "Services"), including our public website at https://efflorescelabs.com and Android applications distributed on Google Play, such as Listi and Freezi.

This Privacy Policy outlines how our applications handle your data, our strict commitment to on-device processing, and the third-party services utilized to support our applications.

02 On-Device Data Storage & Privacy

Our applications are built on an offline-first architecture designed to protect your personal privacy:

• Local SQLite Databases (Room DB): All personal user entries—including grocery items, custom supermarket aisle layouts, freezer inventory records, batch cooking notes, and price history—are stored exclusively in local SQLite database files on your physical device. We do not operate remote databases to collect, store, or profile your personal data.
• On-Device Machine Learning & Camera OCR: Optical character recognition (OCR) and text extraction features (such as scanning receipt prices in Listi or expiration dates in Freezi) run 100% locally via Google ML Kit on-device models. Camera video frames are analyzed in volatile memory and are never saved to disk or transmitted to external servers.

03 Device Permissions & Usage

Our applications only request Android system permissions necessary to deliver explicit user-initiated features:

• Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used exclusively when opening the scanner tool (e.g. Freezi's food packaging & expiry scanner). Live video feeds are analyzed on-device in real time and are never recorded, saved, or uploaded.
• Notification Listener (NotificationListenerService): Used optionally in Listi to enable one-tap parsing of shopping items received in messaging apps. Text is evaluated locally in memory and immediately discarded.
• Vibration & Wake Lock (VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCK): Used in in-store shopping modes to keep your screen illuminated while actively navigating supermarket aisles and provide tactile confirmation when checking off items.
• Post Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used solely to post local system reminders (such as freezer items nearing their recommended use-by date).

04 Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)

To support ongoing independent development and keep our tools accessible, our applications may display banner, interstitial, or native advertisements provided by Google AdMob.

Third-party ad networks may automatically collect non-personally identifiable diagnostic and telemetry data to serve relevant ads and prevent fraud:

• Advertising Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (AAID) to measure ad engagement and prevent repetitive ads.
• Device & Network Information: Device model, operating system version, carrier, and general connection type.
• Performance & Diagnostic Logs: Aggregated crash reports and ad performance metrics.

05 Third-Party SDKs & Services

Our applications integrate the following industry-standard services:

06 Data Retention, Control & Deletion

Because all application records are stored locally on your device, you retain full ownership and control over your data:

• Immediate Data Deletion: You can permanently wipe all locally stored databases, custom layouts, and logs at any time by going to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Storage & Cache > Clear Storage on your Android device.
• App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the application automatically deletes the private application sandbox and all associated local database files from your device.

07 Children's Privacy

Our utility applications are intended for a general audience and are not targeted toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
